APRIL 30, 2017

The children were downstairs from the beginning of service so their Faith Chat was in Robertson Hall as they rehearsed for "God's Garden" being prepared for Family Service on May 7.

The Chancel steps were filled with little people and their amazing leaders this morning, along with Peter Rabbit, as Alison used a dozen special Easter eggs to tell the Easter story. The children returned at the conclusion of the service to participate in the "Hallelujah Chorus." (and the Hot Cross Buns and refreshments in the T.M. Room.)

APRIL 2, 2017

"Seeds of Goodness" was the theme explored during Faith Quest on Sunday morning. At our home the little seeds planted in various soil types are thriving in spite of infrequent watering!!!

MARCH 26, 2017

With the onset of Spring Break, our little ones were enjoying the sunshine or just a lazy morning at home. The Youth Faith Quest team was decorated with paint spatters as they enhance their room for spring time.

MARCH 19, 2017

The congregation covenanted with Nooshin, Trent and Abbey, members of the Ministry of Families, as they go about their important work with nursery and children's Faith Quest. Everyone joined enthusiastically into the singing of "Crazy" prior to the children adjourning downstairs for their Faith Quest program. Meanwhile the Youth room is getting a fresh coat of paint as evidenced by paint spattered T-shirts.

Following the worship service, the TM room, decorated with balloons and streamers, welcomed the congregation to cake and other goodies, commemorating the Covenanting Service and welcoming Nooshin and Trent as well as Abbey, a familiar face in nursery for several years now.

MARCH 12, 2017

Our little ones are now experts on how the apple seed grows into a fruit-producing tree - something so valuable from something so small. Alison and her crew are busy painting the Youth room. Next week is Cake Time - welcoming the new Faith Quest leaders.

MARCH 5, 2017

Today our little ones learned about farming ... namely Bob, who planted his seeds in a variety of soils... one of Jesus' parables. So now, each participating family has four little pots at home, each with a different soil from gravel to loam and tiny seeds ready to emerge. Following service, the children joined in "Embodied Spirituatity" hosted by Pastoral Care for the spiritual practice of yoga.

FEBRUARY 26, 2017

The children, Sunday morning, started a new focus which required that they have their baby pictures sent via email to Alison. Their activity involved creating a frame for their baby picture to celebrate their uniqueness.

FEBRUARY 12, 2017

Faith Quest was very busy Sunday morning as Alison and her assistants led the children and teens through a variety of activities in their continuing focus on Sacred Practices.

JANUARY 8, 2017

We began a new Faith Quest Unit in which we will explore what helps to make a sacred space special. We also noticed that our sacred space (the Gathering  Room) needs some TLC. The activities in our unit looks/will look like this: January 8th: We had a blessing ritual in which we blessed both the Gathering and the Youth Rooms. We removed all the sheets from the mats and the pillow cases from the pillows to be washed. We placed the small and medium pillows in the craft room.  January 15th: We will top up the stuffing in the small and medium pillows,  sew them shut, and replace the covers. (As there was just a touch of pillow fighting at one moment today, I cannot guarantee we won’t have any pillow fighting before we begin to sew next week!) January 22nd: The children will explore and then combine a number of objects to take home and create their own sacred space – a place where they can connect with God. The children have loved all of our sewing projects to date so I suspect next week will be quite fun for them! Hope to see you there!

DECEMBER 24, 2016

As St. Davidians arrived for the 4:30 service on Saturday afternoon, they were directed to many tables in the foyer loaded with props and costumes for an inclusive Christmas Pageant. Thanks to supporting teams that helped to make this service such a success.

DECEMBER 18, 2016

Movie time featuring "Veggie Tales" captured the attention of our younger St. Davidian's Sunday morning as the aroma of popcorn wafted up the stairs.

DECEMBER 11, 2016

The Family Ministry was very busy on White Gift Sunday with little sheep, angels, shepherds, wisemen, Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus along with Mrs. Fletcher, her friends, Seth and Brent, and, finally, the solution to the mystery, "Christmas, She Wrote." Young black clad detectives raced from the foyer to the chancel with many gifts destined for CUPS, ALEX house and WOOD'S Homes, thanks to the generosity of St. Davidians. Thanks to parents, grandparents and, of course, Alison and her Family Ministry Committee for their leadership.

Shalom Comes to St. David's on Saturday, November 19th!

“Loving Our Humanity: An invitation to Explore Being Human”

Through the practice of intentional loving within a community committed to its own healing, we can learn to express ourselves with integrity, creativity, and passion.

LJ Wooden CCEP comes to us from Boston and invites us to give ourselves the gift of coming together to explore our humanity! Who knows how the mystery will unfold...

All are welcome.
For more information, brochures are available in the foyer

NOVEMBER FAITH QUEST

Nov. 6 and Nov. 13 focussed on the value of "BEHOLDING," as the children and youth at SDUC became  more aware of the importance of really looking at everything that comes our way. During Faith Chat we sang songs and listened to stories under Alison's leadership.

November 20 will mark the preparation for the Christmas Season as we launch the "GIVING TREE PROGRAM" and the "Christmas She Wrote: a White Gift Mystery"  with Jessica Fletcher.

OCTOBER FAITH QUEST

Sunday, the 30th, was all about "Beholding" Hallowe'en. Lots of costumes, stories and songs reminded St. Davidians about the roots of this yearly event. Next value of the month is "Empathy."

The Children in Faith Quest have had a wonderful time learning about the relationship between people and their pets. Buster, a big Newfoundlander, was a guest mid-month as the children learned about working dogs. During the Blessing of the Animals service, young and old brought their pets or photos of animals or stuffies to be blessed at this intergenerational Blessing of the Animals service. Gleefully, we sang "All God's people have a place in the Choir!"
